A Letter from Kabul that Speaks for Itself…

Dear E-Books for Troops team,

Thank you so much for the thoughtful donation.  I am currently stationed at Kabul, Afghanistan and am away from my Wife and three kids who are home at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX.  I work as a communications specialist and love to read every chance I get.  It is difficult to get books over here and even harder to find storage for the books I currently have.

The Kindle is a perfect gift for me as it eliminates my two issues with reading here in Afghanistan.  I can easily purchase new books online and they do not take up space in my small living conditions.  I love being able to take my entire library with me everywhere I go.

I was surprised to find out that my 9 year old daughter was able to pick out a few books and we read them together.  This has enabled us to stay connected despite the time and distance we are separated by.  The next book I am planning on reading is a selection from my two boys, five and four.

My wife and I have worked hard to ensure reading is an important part of our children’s lives.  We do this by constantly reading to them and showing how my wife and I choose to read every night.  Thru your generous donation I am able to continue my passion for reading and help show my children the importance of reading.

Your donation has brightened my spirits and keeps me motivated.  Thank you so much for thinking of us while we are out here.  I look forward to working with your organization upon my return so I can help others as you have so selflessly helped me.

Sincerely,

Jeff Bean
